Pre-operative Instructions

PATIENT INSTRUCTIONS for SURGERY

 

  •  Michelleen Graham from my office will call you to schedule surgery. If you do not hear from her within 3 days of your last office visit, call her at 622-2626.

  •  Once you know the date of surgery, make an appointment with your Primary Care Physician and obtain any necessary pre-operative tests no later than 7 days before the surgery.

  •  Discontinue taking ASPIRIN or any medication containing aspirin, such as Anacin®, 10 days before your surgery. 

  •  Discontinue any "blood thinners" such as Coumadin® or Ticlid® 10 days before surgery.  However, please discuss this with the physician who prescribed it before discontinuing it and let me know the outcome of your discussion.

  •  DO NOT EAT OR DRINK ANYTHING – INCLUDING WATER – AFTER
    MIDNIGHT BEFORE THE SURGERY.  For your safety, if you do eat or drink, the surgery will be canceled.

  •  Someone must accompany the patient home.  The patient may not drive, ride the bus, or take a taxi alone after surgery.

  •  Please call our office at 622-2626 one or two working days prior to the date of surgery to confirm all information.
