Pre-operative Instructions

PATIENT INSTRUCTIONS for SURGERY

from my office will call you to schedule surgery. If you do not hear from her
within 3 days of your last office visit, call her at 622-2626.

Once you know the date
of surgery, make an appointment with your Primary Care Physician and obtain
any necessary pre-operative tests no later than 7 days before the surgery.

Discontinue taking
ASPIRIN or any medication containing aspirin, such as Anacin®, 10 days before
your surgery.

Discontinue
any "blood thinners" such as Coumadin® or Ticlid® 10
days before surgery. However, please discuss this with the physician who
prescribed it before discontinuing it and let me know the outcome of your
discussion.

DO NOT EAT OR DRINK
ANYTHING – INCLUDING WATER – AFTER MIDNIGHT BEFORE THE SURGERY. For your safety, if you do eat or drink, the
surgery will be canceled.

Someone must accompany
the patient home. The patient may not drive, ride the bus, or take a taxi
alone after surgery.

Please call our office
at 622-2626 one or two working days prior to the date of surgery to confirm
all information.
